The Cuneo mansion is now an historic house museum. The home was designed by architect Benjamin Marshall for Samuel Insull, founder of the Commonwealth Edison Company. John Cuneo, Sr. purchased the home and estate in 1937. He was the founder of The Cuneo Press and the Hawthorn Mellody Dairy. The Cuneo family lived in the home until 1990. The museum and gardens were opened to the public in 1991. Self-guided tours of the mansion and its collections are offered from 11:00am until 4:00pm (last ticket sold) Tuesday through Sunday. A tour booklet is provided, and staff members are available to answer questions. Guided tours are offered at 11:00am Tuesday through Friday. The Museum is closed on Mondays. The museum offers cultural, educational and theatrical programs throughout the year. The museum facilities are available for weddings and parties. Museum memberships are available in various categories and there are many interesting volunteer opportunities. We encourage you to visit the other pages on the Cuneo Museum website for further information. |
